Enviroment

The Jardines del Rey (Gardens of the King) Archipelago lies just off the northern coast of Cuba, boasting some of the largest and most unspoiled cays in the Cuban Caribbean. This stunning region is home to some cays larger than entire countries, with a natural beauty that makes it one of the most cherished spots in the Caribbean. To the north, the archipelago is protected by a coral reef stretching approximately 248 miles—the second largest barrier reef in the world, surpassed only by Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.

The cays increase in size as you move from west to east of Morón in Ciego de Ávila Province. This region includes Turiguanó Island, Cayo Coco, Guayabal, and Sabinal, forming an outer coastline that shapes the bays of Buenavista, Los Perros, and Jiguey. Among these formations, Cayo Coco stands out, connected to the mainland by an 11-mile causeway that also links Cayo Guillermo and Cayo Paredón, as well as Santa María.
